On February 11th, 2010, Tim McGraw and his band, the Dancehall Doctors, will kick off an extensive North American tour in support of his new album, Southern Voice, which was released this week by Curb Records. The “Southern Voice” tour, promoted nationally by Live Nation, will commence at Qwest Center in Omaha, NE, on February 11th and conclude at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Virginia Beach, VA, on August 15th. For information regarding the online ticket request period and general public on-sale dates, please visit http://www.timmcgraw.com/.
“I’m real excited to have this opportunity to hit the road next year with the ‘Southern Voice’ tour, and look forward to playing new songs and old favorites for all my fans,” says McGraw, who recently performed on “TODAY” as part of the Toyota Concert Series on Rockefeller Plaza. On October 27th he appeared on “The Jay Leno Show,” where McGraw was joined by Gregg Allman for a very special rendition of “Southern Voice.” McGraw also performed on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” On November 13th, CMT will premiere “INVITATION ONLY: TIM MCGRAW,” a one-hour special featuring McGraw performing before a small studio audience and taking questions from fans.
Lady Antebellum will be a special guest on the entire tour. The Lost Trailers will open shows from February 11th – April 10th, while Love And Theft will open from April 11th - August 15th. Lady Antebellum took country music by storm with the release of their now PLATINUM certified debut on Capitol Records Nashville in 2008, which spawned the hit singles “Love Don’t Live Here” and “Lookin’ For A Good Time” as well as the GOLD certified #1 smash “I Run To You.” With "Best New Artist" trophies from both the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music in 2008, two GRAMMY® nominations for the 51st Annual GRAMMY Awards and countless other award nominations, it comes as no surprise they were the only country act recognized as one of iTunes’ Best New Artists of 2008. Lady Antebellum’s current single “Need You Now” is the fastest rising single of their career quickly setting the pace for their upcoming sophomore release NEED YOU NOW due in stores Jan. 26, 2010. BNA Records’ The Lost Trailers were named “Most Played New Group” in 2008 (Mediabase). Their album’s title track, “Holler Back,” stayed in the Top 10 for over a month last summer and their latest single, “Country Folks Living Loud,” is climbing the charts. Love And Theft’s debut album, World Wide Open, recently opened inside the Top 10 on the country albums chart and the band’s Top 10 and climbing hit single “Runaway” claims the biggest first week digital single sales for any debut country act this year.
With Southern Voice, McGraw once again pushes the bounds of his artistry with characteristic honesty, grit and soul, qualities that have throughout history exemplified the Southern voice. Recorded in Nashville with his longtime producer, Byron Gallimore (Faith Hill, Sugarland), Southern Voice is McGraw’s first studio album in two and a half years, following Let It Go, which debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 in April of 2007. McGraw recently gave the title track, which is his current single, its national television debut on "NFL OPENING KICKOFF 2009 PRESENTED BY EA SPORTS,” which was simulcast on NBC and NFL Network.
McGraw has sold over 40 million units and dominated the charts with 30 #1 singles. He’s won three GRAMMYs, 14 Academy of Country Music Awards, 11 Country Music Association Awards, 10 American Music Awards, three People’s Choice Awards and numerous other awards. McGraw is featured on the cover of the November issue of Men’s Journal, which is on newsstands now.
His multi-faceted career also encompasses film. McGraw launched an impressive acting career with 2004’s “Friday Night Lights,” which he followed with “Flicka” (2006), “The Kingdom” (2007) and "Four Christmases" (2008). He co-stars with Sandra Bullock in the upcoming film “The Blind Side,” scheduled for release on November 20th.
